History

Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib is one of the most important historical Gurdwaras in Delhi. It marks the place in Chandni Chowk where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, was martyred in 1675 on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to abandon the path of dharma and for defending freedom of conscience.

A shrine was established here by Sardar Baghel Singh in 1783. The present Gurdwara stands as a place of remembrance, courage, and seva in the heart of Old Delhi.
