The Ten Gurus

The ten Sikh Gurus who guided the Panth from Guru Nanak Sahib to Guru Gobind Singh Sahib.

The history of the Sikh faith is anchored in the divine leadership of ten human Gurus who guided the Panth over a period of two and a half centuries (1469–1708). While each Guru fulfilled a distinct historical purpose, Sikhs view them as carrying a single continuous divine light (Jot) that passed seamlessly from one master to the next.

Their collective physical lineage culminated in 1708, when the tenth master, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, declared the eternal scriptural Guru—the Guru Granth Sahib Ji—and the empowered collective body of initiated Sikhs—the Guru Panth—as the perpetual spiritual and temporal authority.
