History

Gurdwara Bangla Sahib stands on the site of the bungalow of Raja Jai Singh of Amber, where the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan Ji, stayed during his visit to Delhi in 1664.

During a severe epidemic in the city, Guru Sahib served the sick with deep compassion. The well water associated with this seva is remembered today in the Gurdwara’s holy Sarovar, which devotees hold in deep reverence.

A shrine was later raised here by Sikh general Sardar Baghel Singh in 1783. Today the Gurdwara is known for its golden dome, Nishan Sahib, continuous langar, and open welcome to all.
