“Kamrup” in traditional lists is a region. Pinning the visit to one modern neighbourhood would be invention. Coordinates use Guwahati only as a regional marker.

The Sakhi

According to some janamsakhi strands, Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelled in the far east including Kamarupa. Treat as tradition.

Historical Context

Approximate period: Traditionally placed in the Udasis of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (often dated by later writers to the late 15th and early 16th centuries). Exact years are not established.

Later Sikh tradition strongly associates this place with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, but the evidence for a specific visit is less certain.
